01 Sep How to deal with the Munchies
We’ve all been there, when you get nice and baked, then BAM! The munchies have hit. What do you do? Do you give into the temptations and dive into the oh-so-delicious possibilities? Or do you choose a more beneficial and healthier option? If you’re like me, this is a battle you deal with almost every time you get high. That’s why I’ve come up with a few tips and tricks on how to eat healthier foods when dealing with the munchies.
1.Prepare your food before you get baked
I know sometimes this can be hard, you get off work or home from a long day and the first thing you want to do is get high. Believe me babe, I get it. But trust me when I say, you will not regret this one! When you have a plate or bowl full of food waiting there for you when you get done tokin’ it down, you’re gonna be so damn happy! Plus it helps curb your cravings for unhealthy stuff. Don’t believe us? Check out what Ilana Glazer from Comedy Central’s ‘Broad City’ had to say from her interview with Bon Appetit…
“Yeah. Honestly. I’ll prepare something beforehand and then get high and then I have this thing available for me. Also, a warm drink in the Fall and Winter. Like tea. It’s just lovely.” -Ilana Glazer Check out the full interview here: (http://www.bonappetit.com/people/celebrities/article/broad-city )
2.Have healthy snacks on hand
Having little healthy snacks on hand can really help reduce munching on fatty foods.
Things such as; fruit, trail mix, and dark chocolate are all great options. I especially like to keep dark chocolate on deck because I get a tend to get a sweet tooth and that helps keep it tame without overindulging.
3. Don’t grocery shop while high
This is a must! It seems like a good idea, but you’ll regret it when your stomach hurts and you’re breaking out because all you’ve got is pizza, chips and ice cream pies!
4 .Ask yourself, what will I regret?
When you are having a hard time deciding what to choose, ask yourself which am I more likely to regret? Are you more likely to regret the healthier option that maybe won’t taste as delicious but will leave you feeling better and your skin looking fresher? Or will you regret the tasty junk food option that will leave you bloated and breaking out?
5. Try meal prepping for your munchies
Plan ahead for the week! Come up with some healthy options that you really enjoy. Maybe dip some fruit in dark chocolate and freeze it. Or make breakfast egg muffins. Having home-made, ready to heat food on hand is key to staying healthy. Especially if you’re like me and like to eat out for the “quick-fix” because you don’t want to cook.
We encourage you to please try out some of these tricks the next time you blaze it up and let us know what works for you!
